| Some questions that are randomly on my mind:
-Which flavor of ice cream is the best? -Why don't people celebrate the small victories? They definitely bemoan the little defeats. -What's the greatest movie of all time? -What would be the song of choice for each of the following moods... Happy? Sad? Bittersweet? Awkward? Energetic? Goofy? Lovestruck? Weary? Tired? Hopeful? -What's my theme song? -What worries you about me? -When did you know how much you actually cared for me? -Best pun...? -Why pick me? It could have been anyone, but thank goodness it was me.

Everybody's working for the weekend,
Everybody wants a little romance.
Everybody's goin' off the deep end,
Everybody needs a second chance.
Hey all! Life here is hectic (as always), but it's also pretty fun. There have been some pretty major developments, so allow me to give you the ultra-super-really-really condensed version to what's been going on:
1. GRADUATION!

It was really cool to see 12 years finally come to fruition. I've met a lot of really awesome people and I'm going to miss all of you. The future's got some big things coming, so overall I think I'm more excited than anything else.
Congrats all!
2. NEW YORK!
So the Three Amigos went to New York, just for fun! It was awesome, and here's a small taste of the super-coolness that I experienced. Take special note of that T-shirt in the last photo.
Natural History Museum... AWESOME!
FDNY... Some of the bravest guys in the world.
We couldn't help checking out the GIANT Barnes and Noble... Some of the books were too advanced for us though.
The dog. The Legend. That's right. Balto!
Lady Liberty herself, looking good as ever!
3. AIR FORCE RESEARCH LABORATORIES I'll be talking a lot more about this over the Summer, for now I'll be brief. Let's just say, it's amazing. It's crazy stuff but I'm learning a lot and I think I'm going to come out of this muchos smarter. For a taste of some of the stuff I'm working on, check this out: Combustion Instability
That's it for now!
Take care! | | |
| Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter. Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here. Here comes the sun, here comes the sun, And I say it's all right.
<--- A few weeks ago.
<--- Now.
There's something about Spring in Ohio that just doesn't feel like Spring until it's the Summer.
Relient K summed it up best when they said "Ohio has the flavor of a water chestnut." OK. So I don't actually know what that's supposed to mean. But it still sounds about right for Ohio.
I entirely recommend the long-forgotten practice of what some Americans call "a walk." It's even better when you walk your dog. All this is made ridiculously convenient by the fact that I have an AMAZING bike path right near my house. Since Spring is technically here, I decided to explore the trails near the bike path a bit with my dog.
Off to walk!
Me trying to be artsy.
Hide and go seek! (I am winning). I know everyone's pretty overwhelmed with homework and the like. But c'mon it's Spring Break! Go out, get some air! It's good for you! Take care all!
P.S.- If you think these pictures are lame, just remember my sophomore year Spring Break entry...
Waking up from winter's hibernation. This and more at that linked soph entry! Click at own risk.
| It's a new dawn, It's a new day, It's a new life for me, And I'm feeling good. This week was all about surprises methinks. Allow me to demonstrate: Exhibit A: Yearbook deadlines Type of surprise: This will need to be an entry of its own... Some day.
The point is, deadlines got shifted around, a kid we were quoting suddenly left town, and the perfect picture for the dominant on the junior divider was unflippable, and therefore unusable. All unexpected happenings. Therefore, for the first time, Kara and I FAILED to meet deadline. Lame!
Exhibit B: Work Type of surprise: I work. Again, this will one day be an entry in and of itself. But my schedule for the coming week is rather odd. Monday 11-5 Tuesday 11-5 Wednesday OFF Thursday OFF Friday OFF Saturday 11-5 Sunday OFF The jury is still out on whether this is a good thing or not. But hey, feel free to come visit (I'd recommend stopping by for the last couple hours; anything earlier may catch you in the lunch rush. And make sure you sit at the counter so I can talk to you!)
Exhibit C: Wright Scholar Type of surprise: I got the job! It's going to be awesome, and no doubt the subject of many summer entries. As I mentioned in a past entry, it's me in an Air Force Research Lab learning how to use computer programs. And I get to make something around $3000 this Summer to do it. Awesome!
Exhibit D: Michael Bublé Type of surprise:
Unfortunately, external circumstances made it impossible for my dear friend Emily to come with me to the Michael Bublé concert. This was cause for deep sorrow, and was really out of anyone's control. But then, lo and behold, to my rescue came the one and only KR, Katharine. I'd link to her xanga, but it's gone (she's given up on these all time-consuming, procrastinating internet things, and thus she is far nobler than I). Anywho, her parents were kind enough to grant last-minute permission, so we were good to go.
We ended up eating dinner at Friendly's, a delicious and fairly low-key (and low-price, yey!) place.
Afterwards, onward to Cincinnati! We did not get lost on the way, an admirable accomplishment if I do say so myself. Parking was pretty easy, and we arrived in plenty of time. The seats were amazing, and mad props to my elder sister Nikki for securing them for me. KR and I got to watch the opening act, a great little group called Naturally 7. They were EXTREMELY talented. And yes, EVERY SOUND they make on their songs is made by them. By their voices. It's insane. I urge you all to check them out. <--- Click that link! Now!
Then there was Michael Bublé. Amazing. This guy is awesome, and though something (perhaps his concert tour sponser) told me he was a bit tipsy, the man can still sing like no other. He was very funny too, very entertaining. The whole show was great, everything from a YMCA chorus, to a short nod to not being as wasted as Amy Winehouse, to performing all of his classics, to a great singing of "Home" with all the TV screens behind him showing a montage of Cincinnati-specific things. That was a nice touch, and I suspect each city will feel just as personally for that moment of the show when they get their own respective montages too. The band backing Bublé was amazing, a mini big band that was very talented in its own right, and Michael allowed them to shine on their own a bit for the night.
Did I mention how awesomely close my seats were? It was amazing.
And once more, mad props to Katharine for swooping in at the last second to save the concert-going experience.
I apologize for not having any pictures; I didn't think I could bring a camera to the concert. I did manage to snap a few via the cell phone, so if you see me in person, ask. Take care all!
| Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes, Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Moments so dear. Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes, How Do You Measure - Measure A Year?
You should have been two years old today, Noah Kalia Kapaku.
And I'm sure the view from heaven, Beats the hell out of mine here. And if we all believe in heaven, Maybe we'll make it through one more year, Down here.
I can't help but wonder if I did well this year. If I did good. And I know you're shining down on me from heaven Like so many friends we've lost along the way And I know eventually we'll be together One sweet day
I hope that I remember to value life, to value being alive. Not everyone gets that chance.
What would you think of me now? So lucky, so strong, so proud I never said thank you for that Now I'll never have a chance
May angels lead you in Hear you me my friends On sleepless roads, the sleepless go May angels lead you in
Take care up there, Noah.
